Summer 2021 Events

The summer entertainment events are off to a great start. There are many returning acts as well as some performers who are appearing at the LSP for the first time. Check out the full line up on the events page or at this link.

Thank you to the Mason County

Sheriff's Office

The water safety sign at the front entrance to the LSP displays the current swimming conditions in Lake Michigan. The sign is a vast improvement over the past practice of only having a colored flag by the entrance to LSP which indicated the current conditions. The LED sign was made possible in large part by a donation from the staff of the Mason County Sheriff's Office.

Kayak Lunch Target Installation Delayed

A kayak launch similar to the above one should be installed on Hamlin Lake yet this summer.

Kayak Launch

Unfortunately the installation of the kayak / canoe launch has been delayed as a result of contractor and supply chain delays. We have a commitment from the Ludington State Park and the Michigan EZ Launch dealer that shortly after the final piece of the launch is manufactured the entire launch will be installed.  The State Park staff are in the process of ordering the kayak racks and working with DNR officials in Lansing on the approval to designate and install signage for the novice kayak / canoe trail to the north of the LSP Hamlin Beach. For move information visit the kayak page under the donate tab on the FLSP website.

Volunteering for FLSP

Volunteer opportunities have been posted under a new volunteer tab on the FLSP website. To sign up for volunteer activities click here.

Litter Pick-up

Two dates have been scheduled, July 20 and September 21, for litter pick-ups. We pick up litter along the northernmost 2 miles of the M-116 roadside leading into Ludington State Park, adding more areas depending on how many people take part. Please sign-up to help us on either date by clicking here and registering for a litter pick-up event.

The FLSP entertainment series is funded in part by good will donations made at the beginning of each event.

Pass the Bucket

Would you like to listen to great music or attend some other great entertainment and at the same time help FLSP?  We are really in need of individuals to assist FLSP Board Members in passing the bucket for goodwill donations at the entertainment events.  To sign-up to help, please click here

*** New Projects ***

Trackchair

Trackchairs are becoming increasingly popular at MI State Parks as another way to increase the accessibility to parks for those with mobility challenges. The FLSP has allocated $5,000 towards the $13,000 cost of purchasing a trackchair for the LSP. Click here for more information on the trackchair or to donate.

Trackchairs are being used at other MI State Parks.

SeeCoast Enchroma Enabled Viewer

Did you know that 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women are colorblind?  The FLSP Board has applied for a grant to fund the purchase of a SeeCoast Enchroma Enabled Viewer for the LSP.  This device would allow more people to enjoy the beautiful colors as seen in the landscape from a walkway in the park. For more info click here.
