Brrrewfest 2023 a Success

On Saturday, January 28, 100 volunteers along with 841 paid attendees made for another successful Brrrewfest. The FLSP Board thanks all those involved in the event and the Chamber Alliance of Mason County for working with FLSP as their charity Brrrewfest partner. This is the largest annual FLSP fundraiser and in April the Chamber Alliance will be presenting FLSP with a check for the net proceeds from the event.

Lantern Lit Events

FLSP has two remaining 2023 Lit Lantern Events held from 6 to 8 p.m. on February 4 and 18. This season's lantern events are in memory of Kevin Swygert former LSP Staff Member.

The Mason-Lake-Oceana Great Start Collaborative will be at the February 18 Lantern Lit event session for a Book Walk. Free books will be available for kids and the walk will have a theme based on the book content. In order for these evening events to be successful we need volunteers.

    Happy Little Trees 5K

The Happy Little Trees 5k is a virtual fundraiser for the Michigan DNR. Proceeds support tree planting and forest protection efforts – such as invasive plant and forest pest management and early detection surveys – in Michigan state parks and recreation areas. In the past, the LSP has planted trees funded through this effort.

FLSP is partnering with Ludington Run Club to host an in person Happy Little Trees 5K fun run / walk / roll on April 22. If you are joining us in person, you need to register at Happy Little Trees 5K and on the FLSP website so we will know how many to expect at the LSP. For more information click here

    Blessing of the Boats

    Ada Weier-Amor

    From Ada Weier-Amor

I am a resident of Scottville and recently started a new job at the Scottville Area Senior Center. I am an Activities Coordinator and a Creative Memories Advisor, which I have been doing for 22 years.

For the last 30 years, I've enjoyed the LSP, even more so in the last couple of years. I enjoy hiking the various trails at the State Park. Some of my favorite memories are the times my two children went out to the park on school field trips. I loved how excited they both got every time they went on those field trips. It was like their first time going -- always something new to see.

I support FLSP because of the wonderful things the organization is doing for the park. Their goal is to make the park better for everyone and to get more people out there. And as far as I have seen, they are doing just that!

    FLSP 2023 Improvement Projects

In addition to adding the second track chair, FLSP is seeking funds to replace two of the beach wheelchairs and to add a walkway on the Hamlin Beach like the walkway that FLSP funded ten years ago on the Lake MI beach. All donations towards these projects, which total $30,500, are greatly appreciated. You can donate by clicking here.
