Fall Festival a Huge Success

Tim Husted and Meadow Breeze Farms

FLSP hosted the Ludington State Park Fall Festival on Saturday, October 8 at the Lake Michigan beach house.  Over 650 attended with 500 able to enjoy a free wagon ride in the park featuring draft horses from Meadow Breeze Farms. Music in the beach house was provided by Mike Lenich and Debbie Chase (aka “80 Cows MD”). In addition there was a beach bonfire, apples, donuts and apple juice with the juice provided by Indian Summer.

Thank you to the volunteers that helped make this event possible.

FLSP Board Approves 2023 Capital Projects

The FLSP Board has identified and initiated funding for a number of 2023 projects. In addition to adding a second track chair, FLSP is seeking funds to replace two of the beach wheelchairs and to add a walkway on the Hamlin Beach like the walkway that FLSP funded ten years ago on the Lake MI beach. All donations towards these three projects, which total $30,500, are greatly appreciated.

FLSP Selfie Sign

Have you checked out the FLSP "selfie" sign near the Warming Shelter? In October, the FLSP Board gathered around the sign to have a group photo taken. Help us to promote FLSP by having your photo taken near the sign and posting it to social media.

Hold the Date for Brrrewfest 2023

Once again FLSP will be the charity partner for the Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Brrrewfest which will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023. We will need 100 volunteers to assist in making this event successful. Volunteer sign-up will start in December.

Track Chair Season Extended

LSP staff are supporting the use of the track chair for the 2022 season through Wednesday, November 23, 2022. If you know of anyone with mobility challenges that would like to be out in the park this fall, please let them know they can reserve the track chair via the FLSP website.

Monthly Guided Hikes

Hikers gathered for a group photo on Sunday, October 16.  If you have questions regarding the hikes contact Gary Hearing, Hike Coordinator, via email.

The weather over the lake looked threatening but stayed at a distance while 11 hikers completed the October hike. Many thanks to Peg Grammas and Micheal Wheeler, our hike leaders.

The next guided hike will be on Sunday, November 20 starting from the Warming Shelter at 2 p.m. You do not have to be an experienced hiker to participate since hiking pace and length will vary depending on the interest of the participants.

Volunteers Needed for Lit Lantern Events

It won't be long and we will be enjoying winter weather. The FLSP has set the dates for the 2023 Lit Lantern Events -- Saturday January 7 and 21 and February 4 and 18. In order for these evening events to be successful we need volunteers. Please consider helping by signing up here.

Giving Tuesday - November 29

There are many ways to support the FLSP. You may give towards overall park stewardship (trees, trail maintenance, historical structure repair), programming (summer entertainment, environmental education, signage, snowshoeing) or specific projects such as the second track chair. See our donor page for more information.
