Member Spotlight

Mike and Pam Wedding reside near the Ludington School Forest.  Michigan is the third state they have lived in and they feel it is a privilege to live in such a beautiful area. Over the last five years, Mike and Pam have enjoyed all that the LSP offers, including hiking, cross-country skiing, walking the beach to the lighthouse, kayaking on Hamlin Lake, and attending the FLSP summer concert series. Whenever friends or family come to town, they take them to LSP, which leaves a positive impression on everyone.

When not at the LSP, they work at their business, the local NAPA store, or enjoy the hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails at the school forest. When they travel, they go to a National or State Park, which are way more exciting than theme parks!

Mike and Pam shared, "We enjoy the outdoors. We are impressed with what the FLSP does to increase the value of a visit to LSP. Whether that is summer concerts, accessible equipment, or night hikes, the list goes on and on. It all makes the LSP one of the best state parks not only in Michigan but in the country. That's why we support FLSP."

FLSP is grateful to have NAPA as a business member and the volunteer support from Mike and Pam. Thank you!

Guided Hike

Because of the limited trail system available at the LSP this winter, a FLSP guided hike will not be sponsored until May. However, Brandon Griffith, LSP Park Interpreter, will lead walks at the LSP on March 8, March 16, and April 12. See the FLSP Events Page for more information and get out and enjoy the LSP!

Brrrewfest

FLSP would like to thank everyone who volunteered for or attended Brrrewfest on Saturday, January 25. The 10th annual event was another success. We especially appreciate the Chamber Alliance of Mason County and Pure Ludington for partnering with FLSP on this event. Later this spring the Chamber will announce the amount of the charitable contribution to FLSP.

Lantern Lit Events

This year's alternative trail, south of the river, did not deter people from enjoying a lantern-lit event. Many really appreciated the bonfire, hot cocoa, and marshmallows. The two book walks hosted by the Mason-Lake-Oceana Great Start initiative were also once again popular with families.

Lantern-lit events would not have been possible without FLSP volunteers. We thank Ron and Jenny White and Linda and Rocky Burns, for working with LSP staff to coordinate the events.

Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup

Thinking about spring? The first Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup of the season will be held on Monday, April 14, at 5 p.m. For more information and to register click here.
