FLSP is once again the designated charity partner for the annual Brrrewfest. This is the largest FLSP fundraising event, and we could not fund our projects without it. This year, the event will occur on Saturday, January 25, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Legacy Park.
We need 100 volunteers to make the event a success. Volunteers are needed to help set up, check people in, serve beverages, and clean up. Volunteers receive free admission to the event. Be one of the first to sign-up to volunteer!

Despite LSP north of the Big Sable River being closed for construction, four lantern-lit hikes will be offered this winter south of the river. Events are planned for January 4 and 18 and February 1 and 15. Each event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. The Jan. 18 and February 1 hikes will also feature book walks hosted by the Mason-Lake-Oceana Great Start initiative, in which placards with pages from a book will line the trail for reading by participants in what has been a popular activity for families.

A route of 3/4 of a mile south of the river will start at the amphitheater, where the fire with free cocoa and marshmallows will serve as a gathering spot.
Parking is expected to be at a premium, with only the lot by the Skyline Trail/amphitheater open. Access to the parking area is from the road just south of the bridge on M116, where the construction barricades are set.

While the LSP closed after Labor Day that did not significantly impact the FLSP returnables program, this past summer, volunteers earned FLSP $5,917. That was just $126 less than the previous year.
FLSP thanks the camp hosts who sorted over 59,000 returnables -- Dawn and Bruce Vander Berg, John and Rita Wychers, and Becky and Warren Noble. We also thank the volunteers who handled the administration of the program and/or returned the returnables -- Cory Rogers, Bob Sasin, Nancy Hesting, Ann Barber, Angelika Beyer, Linda Johnson, and Lori Flower.
