Invasive Species Pull - March 16
Join Emily Leslie, DNR Natural Resource Steward, on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for an invasive species pull in the Ludington State Park. The focus of this pull will be to oust Japanese barberry from the coastal dune system. This invasive plant has found its way into our natural areas and threatens to displace the forest understory. Meet at the small parking area at the intersection of Piney Ridge Road and 19th Street, which is just north of the Hobby Crest Resort. No experience is necessary, and training and tools will be provided. Long sleeves and long pants are recommended to protect against thorns.
For more information or to register please contact Emily at (517) 242-8760 LeslieE1@michigan.gov

Member Focus - Ron and Jenny White
"Since retiring and moving to the area 6 years ago, we have come to appreciate the amazing place known as Ludington State Park. We are also thrilled to have become involved with the FLSP. Such a diverse group with a common goal: the enhancement and preservation of all things related to the park. We've been honored to be able to help in such activities as the summer concert series, M116 cleanup, trail monitoring, and our favorite - the lighted snowshoe hikes." Ron and Jenny White

Monthly guided hikes are held the third Sunday of each month at 2 p.m. You can join in the fun and get some exercise by meeting the Hike Leaders at the Warming Shelter just off the main parking lot as you enter the Ludington State Park.

There are still a few opportunities to Adopt-a-Trail in the Ludington State Park. Check out the FLSP Adopt a Trail page that contains information on adopting an LSP trail and helping all of us enjoy it more. There are a total of 23 trails to adopt and the best part is it does not cost you anything beyond your time.
